Korea Muslim Federation Seoul Central Mosque

서울특별시 용산구 한남동

Destination briefing

Why travelers stop here

Korea Muslim Federation Seoul Central Mosque is the first mosque in South Korea, established to introduce Islam and Arab culture to the country and to promote smooth exchanges with Islamic nations. The first and second floors of Seoul Central Mosque contain prayer halls. The annex building has separate ablution rooms for men and women on the basement level, a lecture hall on the first floor, and offices on the second floor. The attached Islamic Center is a three-story building: the first floor has rental shops, the second and third floors house an Islamic missionary school for Muslim children, and the third floor also includes a Muslim congregation hall, a women's association, and a library. Outside Seoul Central Mosque, there are halal restaurants, halal butcher shops, halal supermarkets, Islamic bookstores, and travel agencies. As the mosque is a religious space, there are several points to note. Clothing that reveals too much, such as sleeveless tops, short skirts, or shorts, is not allowed, and smoking is prohibited inside the mosque. Non-Muslims are allowed to enter the mosque, but care must be taken not to disturb worshippers, such as by pointing cameras at people during prayer. It is close to Exit 3 of Itaewon Station on Seoul Subway Line 6, and nearby is the Itaewon World Food Culture Street.
