Why travelers stop here
Gadeoksan (858m), rising on the ridge extending southeast from Hwaaksan (1,468m), the highest peak in Gyeonggi Province, is located between the ridges of Mongdeoksan and Bukbaesan. This place is beautiful in all seasons: in spring, various flowers and new sprouts bloom; in summer, the green foliage and an abundance of purple-flowering bush clovers captivate visitors; in autumn, the green grassland turns into a sea of silver grass swaying in the wind; and in winter, the snow-covered landscape is superb. From the summit of Gadeoksan, Hwaaksan is visible to the northwest, while to the south, the Mokdong Plain and the ridge stretching beyond Bukbaesan and Gyegwansan to Samaksan come into view. To the east, Uiamho Lake, Chuncheonho Lake, and the lakeside city of Chuncheon are visible.
