Why travelers stop here
Muui Island is an island located in Incheon Metropolitan City. In the past, it could only be reached by boat, but with the opening of the Muui Bridge in 2019, vehicle access became possible. However, since traffic increased nearly tenfold after the bridge opened, the number of vehicles entering Muui Island is limited to 900 on weekends and public holidays until July 29, 2019. Around Muui Island are islands such as Silmi Island and Somuui Island, which are connected by a land bridge (from Gwangmyeonghang Pier to Somuui Island), allowing you to reach Somuui Island on foot in 10 to 15 minutes. From Keunmuri Pier to Gwangmyeonghang, you can take the Muui Island village bus. To fully appreciate the beautiful scenery of Somuui Island, you must walk the Muui Badanuri Trail Course 8. It takes about 1 hour, and along 'Somuui Pedestrian Bridge Road' and 'Myeongsa Beach Road,' you can enjoy the beautiful views of the West Sea. A popular spot is the place called Muui Island Serengeti. It feels as exotic as the Serengeti, making it a rising backpacking destination on Muui Island. You can park at Gwangmyeonghang, located in front of Somuui Island. When you see a hiking trail sign from Gwangmyeonghang toward Horyonggok Mountain, follow the path to the left, and you will reach the coast. Passing along the coastal rocks, you will encounter a famous photo spot online, and going through this area leads you to Muui Island's Serengeti. Additionally, Muui Island has two famous beaches: Hanagae Beach and Silmi Beach, which is private property. Especially at Silmi Beach, during low tide, a sea path opens, allowing you to walk to Silmi Island. At Hanagae Beach, you can also enjoy hiking up Horyonggok Mountain and Guksa Peak.
* Silmi Beach Silmi Beach features a crescent-shaped sandy beach stretching 2 km and a grove of century-old large pine trees. During low tide, the mudflat between Silmi Beach and Silmi Island is alive, with octopuses building homes, and minchaengi, fiddle crabs, and whelks living and breathing. There are also a forest bath and tent camping grounds amid the dense pine forest.
