Bae-kkop Bridge

During the mid-Joseon period, scholar Lee Ji-ham traveled across the country to create the Tojeong Bigyeol (a type of fortune-telling book). While traveling, he arrived at the entrance of Dongjeom Village in Gwangam-dong, Dongducheon-si, and marked a rock inscription there, indicating that this spot was the center of Korea's four cardinal directions. In 2006, a bridge was installed in the nearby Wangbangsan Valley, and poet Choi Su-gyeong of the Dongducheon Literary Association named it 'Bae-kkop Bridge,' meaning the navel of Korea, symbolizing the center of the country.

In summer, the valley below Bae-kkop Bridge is crowded with people playing in the water. Hiking trails and walking paths are connected, and there are small parks and pavilions nearby, providing a resting place for locals and travelers.
