Yeoncheon UN Military Cremation Facility

The Yeoncheon UN Military Cremation Facility was built in 1952 to cremate UN soldiers killed during the Korean War and was used until shortly after the armistice. After the war, it was naturally abandoned and remains to this day. The building was constructed using local stones in a random rubble masonry style. Currently, the walls and roof of the building are damaged, but the most important crematorium chimney remains intact. According to local residents, the facility was operated by the British military even after the armistice. It holds significant importance as a relic of the Korean War and is valuable as a facility to commemorate the fallen UN soldiers.
