Why travelers stop here
Located in Munho-ri, Yangpyeong, Jana Museum is Korea's only literature-specialized museum. Jana Museum opened in Yangpyeong to serve as a literary space including a literature hall and writing rooms, as well as a gathering place for local writers, and operates various programs such as literary lectures. It displays terracotta busts, photographs, work explanations, handwritten manuscripts, and plates of world-renowned literary figures and deceased domestic writers in a three-dimensional manner. Novelist Kim Yong-man used his personal funds to collect and exhibit first editions and rare copies of novels and poetry collections, and visitors can encounter representative global authors through terracotta works. The literature hall is divided into a domestic literature exhibition hall and an overseas literature exhibition hall, with paintings and photographs of the authors also on display. Two exhibition halls, literary spaces, and a central yard of about 10,000 pyeong host various cultural and artistic events. Throughout the museum, works and introductions of world literary masters such as Pushkin, Dickens, Shakespeare, and Tolstoy, whom Jana Kim Yong-man admired, are exhibited.
