Why travelers stop here
Anseong is known as one of the three major resistance centers nationwide for staging the most intense independence movement, including completely driving out Japanese colonial authorities and achieving liberation for two days during the 1919 March 1st Movement. The Anseong 3.1 Movement Memorial Hall was established to widely promote the history of Anseong's independence movement, inherit and develop the noble spirit of self-reliance and independence of the martyrs, and serve as a living educational site for patriotism for future generations. The memorial hall consists of a permanent exhibition hall, a special exhibition hall, and an outdoor experience space. In the exhibition hall, visitors can view the history of Anseong's independence movement through artifacts, models, and videos. In addition to the memorial hall, there are also Gwangboksa Shrine, a shrine to honor the noble will of Anseong's independence activists, and the Anseong 3.1 Movement Memorial Tower, a monument expressing the value and historical resistance of the Anseong 3.1 Movement. Exhibition commentary programs operated through advance reservation and educational programs for infants and elementary school groups are available.
