Museum Face

경기도 광주시 남종면 분원길 3-6

Destination briefing

Why travelers stop here

Museum Face displays stone figures, wooden dolls, and ceramics created by our ancestors, collected over the past 40 years by theater director Kim Jeong-ok. It brings together ceramic dolls from Korea and various countries around the world, glass dolls, roof-end tiles and masks modeled after human faces, all in one place. Theater director Kim Jeong-ok envisioned a space where people of today can come together to meet the people of the past, pursuing a space that combines the functions of a museum and a performance hall.

Indoor exhibition halls, the front yard, and outdoor exhibition areas feature about 70 stone figures and stone craft works, set against the backdrop of seasonal flowers and trees. Behind the outdoor exhibition hall, you can see Gwansukheon, an 80-year-old hanok built from Baekdusan pine trees relocated from Gangjin, Jeollanam-do, the hometown of poet Kim Yeong-rang. Free workbooks are provided for visits with children, and there is also an experience where you can draw a face directly on a stone.
