Destination briefing

Why travelers stop here

Gwacheon Chusa Museum is a complex cultural space where visitors can comprehensively study, exhibit, and experience the life, scholarship, and art of Chusa Kim Jeong-hee, a scholar from the late Joseon Dynasty. It is operated by the Chusa Museum Team of the Gwacheon City Culture and Sports Department, and has been registered as a Type 1 Museum (specialized) since its opening on June 3, 2013. It has been certified three times consecutively in the Public Museum Evaluation (2017, 2019, 2022) and is designated as an Integrity Historic Site by the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education. The permanent exhibition halls consist of three rooms: the 2nd floor on Chusa's life, the 1st floor on Chusa's arts and learning, and the basement 1st floor Hutsutsuka Donation Room. The basement 1st floor also houses a special exhibition hall, a permanent experience room, a seminar room, a small children's library, a museum shop, and a lecture room. Outdoors, there are a restored well, Gwajichodang (瓜地草堂), and the Chusa Madang. Chusa Museum holds 1-2 special exhibitions annually, and strives to disseminate Chusa content and accurately promote Chusa by carrying out projects such as the compilation of Chusa's epigraphs and operating various educational experience programs.
