Pearl S. Buck Memorial Hall

Pearl S. Buck is a great literary figure who won the Nobel Prize in Literature for her novel 'The Good Earth' and a human rights activist who practiced love without discrimination. In 1965, she established the Korean branch of the 'Pearl S. Buck Foundation' to help mixed-race children born in Korea due to the U.S. military during the Korean War, and in 1967, she founded the 'Sosa Opportunity Center' to care for over 2,000 war orphans and mixed-race children. In 2006, Bucheon City opened the Bucheon Pearl S. Buck Memorial Hall on the site of the former Sosa Opportunity Center to honor her noble spirit of respect for humanity shown in Korea. The memorial hall continues Pearl S. Buck's spirit through international exchanges, Pearl S. Buck research, and various commemorative projects.
