Why travelers stop here
Seongho Museum is a museum established by Ansan City to honor the life of the great Silhak scholar Seongho Yi Ik, who was born in Ansan, and to inherit and develop his academic achievements. It consists of a permanent exhibition hall displaying artifacts related to Seongho's scholarship and thoughts, such as his handwritten manuscripts and writings left during his lifetime, a special exhibition hall, a video hall that presents his life story through videos, and a Silhak information room where key information about Silhak can be obtained. Major exhibited artifacts include the scholar's handwritten poetry drafts and letters, writings such as the Seongho Seonsaeng Munjip, and works by Toegye Yi Hwang, Misu Heo Bong, Bangye Yu Hyeong-won, and Dasan Jeong Yak-yong. The exhibits are centered on actual artifacts, not replicas, and notably include many previously unpublished artifacts held by individuals or clans. Exiting through the back gate of Seongho Museum leads to Seongho Park, and nearby attractions worth visiting together include Yi Ik's tomb, Ansan Botanical Garden, Danwon Sculpture Park, and Nojeokbong Falls.
