Why travelers stop here
Adjacent to Suji Library, Yongin City Lifelong Learning Center is a complex facility housing educational, performance, and sports facilities to meet the high educational demands of Yongin citizens and provide learning opportunities. It opened in September 2004 as the Yongin City Women's Center and was renamed and reopened as the Yongin City Lifelong Learning Center in November 2019. Regular and occasional education programs are managed by the Yongin City Lifelong Education Division, the sports center by Yongin YMCA, and performances and facility rentals by the Yongin Cultural Foundation. The building has two underground floors and four above-ground floors. The first basement and first floors house the Lifelong Learning Support Center and sports facilities including a swimming pool, squash court, gym, aerobics room, lockers, and showers. The second floor features the large performance hall 'Keuneoulmadang' (607 seats), small performance hall 'Jageuneoulmadang' (162 seats), and an outdoor stage. The third and fourth floors have a total of 10 lecture rooms and a nursing room. In particular, the Lifelong Learning Support Center offers courses in certifications, foreign languages, information technology, culture and arts, hobbies, and liberal arts under the vision 'Yongin, a city that completes the value of life through lifelong learning.' It also supports adult literacy classes for those who missed learning opportunities and a happy baking and pastry skills class, contributing to creating a happy lifelong learning city. The swimming pool allows daily entry at a low price for free swimming. Various performances and events at Keuneoulmadang and Jageuneoulmadang can be checked on the Yongin Cultural Foundation website. On the first floor, there is a cafe called Sperospera, a job creation project for people with disabilities in Yongin City. It is about a 4-minute walk [279m] from Suji-gu Office Station on the Shinbundang Line. Nearby attractions include Everland, Korean Folk Village, Korea Job World, UNESCO World Heritage Yungneung and Geolleung, Mulhyanggi Arboretum, Yongin Rural Theme Park, and Deokpyeong Dinosaur Arboretum.
