Why travelers stop here
Kyonggi University Sosung Museum was established to contribute to academic research and satisfy the cultural needs of university members by investigating, excavating, collecting, preserving, organizing, and exhibiting cultural heritage. The Sosung Museum's representative collections include agricultural folk items and folk paintings. It opened Korea's first agricultural exhibition room by collecting agricultural folk items from Gyeonggi-do, Jeolla-do, Gyeongsang-do, and Jeju-do, and holds a total of 5,859 items, including folk paintings, agricultural tools, jade crafts, major collections, and nationally attributed excavated artifacts. Additionally, it collects and exhibits the largest number of folk paintings in the country. The museum also houses and displays works by Master Jang Ju-won, an Important Intangible Cultural Property No. 100 jade artisan, and artifacts excavated through cultural heritage surveys. It features five independent exhibition rooms equipped with various convenience facilities for visitors, and a storage room with constant temperature and humidity control, automatic fire suppression systems, and disinfection equipment for safe artifact management. Kyonggi University Sosung Museum contributes to regional cultural development by holding special exhibitions every year based on its five exhibition rooms, which are among the best in domestic universities, and collections rarely found in other museums.
