Suwon Hwaseong Museum

Suwon Hwaseong Museum comprehensively presents the history and culture of Hwaseong Fortress, providing more effective and systematic guidance to visitors, showcasing the cultural prosperity of King Jeongjo's era, and highlighting the excellence of Hwaseong as a specialized museum. Suwon City established the Suwon Hwaseong Museum to promote the pride of our national cultural heritage, UNESCO World Heritage Site Suwon Hwaseong, and the excellence of late Joseon culture, creating a space where local culture and art come alive. Hwaseong is evaluated as a model of 18th-century global military architecture and the pinnacle of Joseon fortress culture, and it is not just a fortress but an entire city. The museum exhibits models and artifacts related to the construction of the new city of Suwon and the construction of Hwaseong, including the ideas and spirit of King Jeongjo, the figures involved in building Hwaseong, the Jangyongyeong soldiers stationed there, and various cultural events during King Jeongjo's eight-day procession to Hwaseong.
