Why travelers stop here
Located near Yongdam Ecological Wetland, Yongdam Fishing Spot is a dedicated bottom fishing (olim) site. Known for its beautiful scenery and clean water quality due to consistent management, it attracts many anglers. Yongdam Reservoir was created in 1978 by damming a mountain valley, covering an area of 60,000㎡ (approximately 120,000 pyeong in water surface area). It is also called [Saamji] after the village name, hence also referred to as Saamji Fishing Spot. The average water depth is 1–4m, with dense water chestnut vegetation throughout. Yongdam Fishing Spot offers various seating options, including shoreline ground seats, pier seats, and a total of 32 bungalow-type水上 seats. The水上 seats can be chosen for 1 to 3 persons, allowing for so-called 'imperial fishing' with air conditioning during hot summers. Additionally, over 200 shoreline ground seats can accommodate standard-sized fishing tents and parasols. The fishing spot primarily operates with native crucian carp, but naturally inhabiting rough fish are also caught. It takes about 10 minutes by car from Yangji IC. Nearby attractions include Everland, Korean Folk Village, UNESCO World Heritage Suwon Hwaseong Fortress and Yungneung and Geolleung, Deokpyeong Dinosaur Arboretum, Starlight Garden Ouju, and Hantaek Botanical Garden.
