Why travelers stop here
Guseonghyeon is an area that became the old center of Yongin when Yongin was incorporated into Goguryeo during the Three Kingdoms period. Although it has now been incorporated into Giheung-gu and changed into an administrative district, traces of its past as the center of old Yongin can still be found throughout the Yeongnam-gil trail. Passing through Tancheon and Guseong Station, you can see the well-preserved Mabuk-dong Stone Standing Buddha and the tomb of Min Yeong-hwan, who committed suicide in protest against the Eulsa Treaty. Going a little further into the old center of Yongin, you will see Yongin Hyanggyo and the Guseong-dong Community Center, which shows the glory of old Guseong. Passing through the serene forest path of Beophwasan Mountain, you arrive at the Lake Park of Dongbaek District, which is gaining attention as a new town in Yongin.
