Destination briefing

Why travelers stop here

Ssangmireuk-gil is a path that runs alongside the 78th road of the Uiju-daero from the Joseon Dynasty, passing through small villages in Paju. The Yongmiri Rock-carved Standing Buddha, which can be encountered on Ssangmireuk-gil, is a Buddha statue called 'Ssangmireuk' and is a massive stone statue reaching 17.4 meters. Since ancient times, travelers passing through this area used Ssangmireuk as a landmark to find their way. Today's travelers can also walk while looking at Ssangmireuk in the distance. Near Yongamsa Temple, one can pass the tomb of General Yun Gwan, a famous general from the Goryeo Dynasty. Even the arrogant Qing Dynasty envoys would have felt a chill when passing the tomb of General Yun Gwan, who defeated the Jurchen people. Ssangmireuk-gil is a total of 14 km and takes 4 hours and 30 minutes. Address: 430-31 Hyeeum-ro, Gwangtan-myeon, Paju-si, Gyeonggi-do (Paju Hyewon Eumji~Sinsan 5-ri)
