Lafesta

Lafesta occupies part of the pedestrian mall section in the central commercial area of Ilsan New Town, and is intended to be the true center of the new town's pedestrian culture. As a commercial hub, this area was originally designed to be activated as a themed pedestrian mall, and it is now the largest commercial district in Ilsan. Lafesta, Korea's first outdoor mall-style shopping space, boasts a total floor area of approximately 20,000 pyeong, with a pedestrian road 300m in length and 28m in width. Unlike naturally formed areas like Myeongdong or Apgujeong-dong, this place was designed through a planned process, with excavation and construction to create the buildings. Lafesta, the first mall concept introduced in Ilsan, delivers joy, fun, and delight to visitors. Through various cultural events, it offers not only shopping but also sights, food, and entertainment. The seamless flow from the entrance, with continuous pathways, makes time pass unnoticed and provides rest and relaxation for those tired from shopping. This natural flow is made possible by sculpturally designed bridges connecting the upper levels of the six buildings. The facades of the six buildings, stretching over 300m, each display vibrant colors and feature facilities comparable to modern multi-functional shopping spaces, including beauty shops, a food court, and Lotte Cinema with 8 screens. Additionally, it has a large performance hall for live shows and concerts, creating an environment that rivals any cultural space. While this may not differ greatly from existing shopping and cultural spaces, what sets it apart is the ability to enjoy shopping under the spring sun and various events that feel like being at an amusement park. Lafesta is also called the Myeongdong of Ilsan and is compared to Santa Monica Street in the U.S. or Shinjuku Street in Japan. It offers a variety of restaurants and fashion malls, as well as themed cafes and large arcades for fun, and attracts young people interested in appearance with fitness centers and beauty clinics.
