Jowon Market

경기도 수원시 장안구 송정로187번길 35-14 (조원동)

Destination briefing

Why travelers stop here

Jowon-dong was called Jowon Village because it had many jujube trees, using the characters for jujube (jo) and garden (won). However, as many jujube trees disappeared and various shops took their place, a market was formed in 1985. The mascot of Jowon Market is 'Daechu-dongi'. It is a round and cute character that can be easily seen throughout the market. Additionally, guide maps are installed throughout the market to help visitors quickly find desired stores and items. As a large traditional market, it has everything from butcher shops, agricultural products, fruits, side dishes, and general goods, attracting an increasing number of consumers. Another pride of Jowon Market is 'Daramjwi Park' (Squirrel Park). Although small in size, it is located near the market, and many people buy various foods from the market to enjoy at the park. With plenty of sights, foods, and activities, it is a great place for family outings, and as a representative market of Suwon with a long history shared with local residents, it is frequently visited by many people.
