Gamnang Oreum

Gamnang Oreum is a parasitic volcano located northeast of Donggwang-ri, Andeok-myeon, Seogwipo-si, Jeju Special Self-Governing Province. The slopes are gentle, and it forms a horseshoe-shaped crater that opens to the northeast. The crater-facing slope is covered with grassland, while the other slopes are planted with cedar trees and other vegetation. Gamnang Oreum and Wonmul Oreum are connected by a ridge like Siamese twins, making a popular course to hike up the pine-forested Gamnang Oreum, then move to Wonmul Oreum and descend. After walking along a grassy trail where cattle and horses graze, you reach the summit in about 30 minutes. On clear days, from the summit of Gamnang Oreum, you can see the scenic views of Hallasan Mountain and Sanbangsan Mountain, as well as Gapado Island at the southern tip of the country. About a 10-minute drive away is O’sulloc, famous for its green tea fields and green tea desserts, and Camellia Hill is also nearby, making it a good area to explore.
