Gampo Breakwater

The nearby Gampo Marine Park is called Gampo Fishing Park, and this Gampo Breakwater is a famous sea fishing spot. Fish species such as black sea bream and marbled rockfish are mainly caught without distinction of specific points, with black sea bream from September to November, and mullet and Pacific saury mainly caught from mid-January. There are two breakwaters, south (200m) and north (300m), and fishing points vary depending on waves and tides. This Gampo Port is the largest port in Gyeongju, celebrating its 100th anniversary of opening in 2025. As a historic port, there are many attractions everywhere. Fishing boats constantly come and go, and fresh fish are auctioned daily at the live fish market. The Gampo Marine Park next to the Gampo Port breakwater is another attraction, along with a coastal deck, a windmill hill, a Gampo Port sculpture, and a beautiful lighthouse engraved with the three-story stone pagoda of Gameunsa Temple.
