Gyeryong Sagye Historic House

Sagye Historic House is a cultural property located near the Dumamyeon Office in Gyeryong City. It was the residence of Sagye Kim Jang-saeng (1548–1631), a literary figure of the mid-Joseon period, who spent his later years here nurturing disciples such as his son Sin Dok-jae Kim Jip, Uam Song Si-yeol, and Dongchundang Song Jun-gil. Upon entering the main gate, the sarangchae (men's quarters) comes into view at the front. The gatehouse attached to the side of the main gate is now used as the Sagye Exhibition Hall, where visitors can explore materials related to Sagye's life, relics, and his teachers and disciples. Recognized for its value, it was designated as Chungcheongnam-do Tangible Cultural Property on September 27, 1990, and later redesignated as Chungcheongnam-do Monument on November 11, 2013. Currently, it operates various programs including the Sagye Cultural Salon offering traditional hanbok and knot craft experiences, traditional food making of Dugye-ri, and overnight stays at Sagye Historic House.
