Destination briefing

Why travelers stop here

Daeshin Sikdang is a 50-year-old seolleongtang (ox bone soup) specialty restaurant located in Sangeo-dong, Yeoju-si, Gyeonggi-do. At Daeshin Sikdang, they clean and prepare beef heads and beef/pork by-products by hand, then boil and simmer them for dozens of hours in several large cauldrons to create a rich, deep broth. They also cook rice with Yeoju's finest premium rice (Jinsangmi) and use 100% domestic ingredients, including gochugaru (red pepper powder). The seolleongtang (ox bone soup) has no unpleasant smell, and depending on the cut of meat, it is tender, chewy, and savory, with a deep, rich broth that is refreshing. The boiled beef head (sori head suyuk) has a clean, pleasant texture. It is good eaten cold, but it is even better when dipped in the hot broth that comes with it and then dipped in the soy sauce made by the owner. The broth also contains blood sausage (seonji). The sundae-gukbap (blood sausage soup with rice) contains glutinous rice sundae, native sundae, assorted meats, and seonji. The homemade sundae is savory and delicious. The portions are generous, and you can taste the deep, traditional flavors. All menu items are available for takeout. Nearby attractions include Yeoju Premium Outlet, the birthplace of Empress Myeongseong, Yeongwollu Geumeunmorae Riverside Park, Gangcheon Island Park, and numerous golf courses.
