Sambong Natural Recreation Forest is a natural recreation forest located in Gwangwon-ri, Nae-myeon, Hongcheon-gun, Gangwon-do. It is situated in a dense forest where coniferous trees such as large fir, alpine fir, and yew harmonize with deciduous trees like monarch birch and black birch. The name 'Sambong' comes from three peaks: Gachilbong, Eungbongsan, and Sasambong. Inside the forest, there is Sambong Mineral Spring, known nationwide for its efficacy in treating stomach ailments, attracting many visitors. The recreation forest features forest houses, hiking trails, walking paths, a forest bath, a water play area, a fitness center, a children's playground, an auto campground, as well as educational experience facilities such as a nature observation center, a forest training ground, and a native plant garden. It is close to Odaesan National Park, with nearby tourist attractions including Cheonghakdong Sogeumgang, Woljeongsa Temple, Sangwonsa Temple, Seonjae-gil, and Gyebangsan Mountain.
Nearby hiking trails from the recreation forest include a 2km and a 3km course from Sambong Mineral Spring to the summit of Gachilbong. Using the 2km course to ascend and the 3km course to descend, the total 5km hiking trail takes about 3 hours.
