Why travelers stop here

A national geopark refers to a park certified by the Minister of Environment (Article 2, Subparagraph 4-2 of the Natural Parks Act) to preserve areas of geoscientific importance and outstanding scenery, and to utilize them for education, tourism, and other purposes. Geumjeongsan National Geopark is a mountain that forms the root of the Busan land, formed by the uplift of granite created from magma cooling underground about 70 million years ago. You can admire elegant granite landforms such as rocky cliffs, tors, gnammas, inselbergs, and block streams, which have been carved and polished by wind and rain over a long period.

The mountain peaks at altitudes of 500 to 800 meters, including Godangbong (the main peak of Geumjeongsan), Janggunbong, Wonhyobong, and Sanghakbong, as well as the ridges connecting these peaks, are mostly fortified with mountain fortresses. On these peaks and ridges, numerous tors—unique rock landforms—are observed due to the exposure of large and small bedrock of the Cretaceous Bulguksa Granite. The geology composing Geumjeongsan consists of Gyeongsang Supergroup sedimentary rocks, volcanic rocks that intruded or erupted into them, and subsequently the Bulguksa Granite and Masanite that intruded these rocks. Registered as a national geopark, Geumjeongsan boasts beautiful scenery where奇特 rocks and nature harmonize well.
