Destination briefing
Why travelers stop here
Located in Seodaemun-gu, Geumho Kalguksu is not a place with a sleek exterior or stylish interior, but it carries a warm and cozy atmosphere. Its signature menu, kalguksu (knife-cut noodles), features a clean and refreshing broth that gives off a rich anchovy aroma. The chewy, handmade sujebi (dough flakes) that don't taste of flour make it perfect both for a hangover remedy and for a hearty meal. This place also has a menu item called makgogi, which looks like dwaeji duruchigi (stir-fried pork). It's so generous in portion and delicious that calling it makgogi almost seems a shame. In addition, various meal options such as cheonggukjang (fermented soybean paste stew) and doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew) are also available.
