Why travelers stop here
Hongcheon Cherry Salmon Village in Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province is located on Guryongnyeong Road, a passage along the Baekdudaegan mountain range. Guryongnyeong was named because it is said to have ninety-nine bends, as if a dragon twists and turns its way up to the sky. The Tongmaram Valley and Gaebangcheon Stream here maintain clean first-grade water quality, and the entire stream has been designated as a habitat for the cherry salmon, an endangered species and a provincial natural heritage. The village offers various experience programs, including tree climbing to directly climb the Baekdudaegan trees of Gangwon Province, forest rope play programs, collecting tree sap, making kimchi pancakes and acorn jelly, and harvesting gomchwi greens, providing memorable experiences for family tourists.
