Why travelers stop here
Designated as a Natural Monument, Chodang Cave is a vertical inclined cave with a three-level multi-layered structure. This cave consists of four large and small plazas that are connected and combined, formed by erosion and collapse. The strata belong to the Pungchon Limestone Formation of the Paleozoic Great Limestone Group, composed of white, grayish-white, and light pink limestone. Chodang Cave is a large limestone cave with splendid speleothems such as stalactites, stalagmites, and columns, and it also hosts a globally rare aquatic moss, giving it high academic value. Ponds are scattered across the cave floor, and confined water springs up here and there like fountains, creating a beautiful scene. Inside the cave, large-scale stalactite formations have developed, presenting a spectacular view.
