The Gimhwa County Residents' Memorial Tower for the Homeland is a memorial tower for displaced residents of the unrecovered Gimhwa County, located in Sagok-ri, Geunnam-myeon, Cheorwon-gun, Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province. It was established on June 1, 1980. Gimhwa County was a region where about 95,000 residents lived just before the liberation, and mining was thriving. It was completely devastated during the Korean War, and after the war, about two-thirds of its original area became part of North Korea and the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ). Currently, it no longer maintains its status as a county and belongs to Gimhwa-eup, Cheorwon-gun.
