Daeseongsan Battle Monument

The Daeseongsan Battle Monument was erected to honor the achievements of the soldiers who fought in the Daeseongsan area during the Korean War and to commemorate the fallen heroes who sacrificed their lives for the nation. The monument was established on October 1, 1983, by the Army's 8305th Unit located in Hwacheon-gun, and is currently managed by the 15th Infantry Division. The Battle of Daeseongsan was fought on June 9, 1951, when the 2nd and 3rd Battalions of the 2nd Division of the Republic of Korea Army engaged in combat to annihilate Chinese communist forces around Hill 1041. Through a preemptive attack, the ROK forces achieved the capture of Hill 1041, Sinwol-dong, and Hill 865. This battle is regarded as a representative example of the bravery and tactical achievements of the ROK Army.
