Destination briefing

Why travelers stop here

Jumun-ri Village is the most central village in Jumunjin-eup. It is the most densely populated area with a formed commercial district, and currently consists of 12 administrative ri (neighborhoods). Originally part of Sinri-myeon, Gangneung-gun, it was called 'Jumuneul', and later named 'Jumunjin' because there was a ferry dock where goods were ordered and transported. In 1916, with the reorganization of administrative districts, Geomul-i, Bangkkol, Bongkkumi, Oritnaru, Yagmul-gol, Yongsodong, and Sodol were merged into Jumun-ri. Later, as a new port was established, Sinri-myeon became Jumunjin-myeon in 1937. In November 1940, it was promoted to Jumunjin-eup, and on January 1, 1995, it was incorporated into the integrated Gangneung-si, becoming the current Jumun-ri Village.

Nearby, there are Jumunjin Port, Jumunjin Hoe Center, Jumunjin Fishermen's Seafood Market, and Jumunjin Jwapang Folk Market, offering the pleasure of tasting freshly caught live fish and seafood. Moreover, it is a representative tourist fishing village with various attractions such as the Bae Ho Song Monument and Adeulbawi Rock.
