Biwaya Falls

강원특별자치도 태백시 양지길 25 (장성동)

Destination briefing

Why travelers stop here

At the end of Yangji Village, below Jaepigol in Taebaek-si, there is a limestone cliff about 40 meters high. Usually, it is a sheer cliff, but when it rains, it transforms into a waterfall with a powerful stream of water. Because the waterfall only appears when it rains, it is called 'Biwaya Falls.' During the rainy season or heavy downpours, the water falls straight down like a white silk cloth, creating a spectacular sight. In winter, as the snow melts and freezes repeatedly, it turns into an ice waterfall, offering a majestic view for 3 to 4 months.
