Seowon were private educational institutions of the Joseon Dynasty, established to hold memorial rites for eminent Confucian scholars and to educate local residents. Deokcheonseowon is located on a hill in Inam Village, Socheon-ri, Seolcheon-myeon. It enshrines Takyeong Kim Il-son, who was a victim of the Muo Sahwa (Literati Purge of 1498) during the reign of King Yeonsangun, as its main deity, along with his descendants Kim Chi-sam and Kim Hyeong. Originally built in 1919 on the front mountain of Gusan Village, Dugil-ri, Seolcheon-myeon, under the name Yucheonsa, it was moved to Inam Village, Socheon-ri, Seolcheon-myeon in 1982, and then relocated to its current site in 1993, where it was renamed Deokcheonseowon. Within the grounds, there is a shrine called Deokcheonsa and several monuments of virtue. Address: 5 Inam 3-gil, Muju-gun, Jeonbuk State
