Mapyeong Water Purification Plant Public Relations Center

This is a public relations center located within a production facility equipped with the nation's first water softening system. Samcheok City operates the center to widely promote the safety and excellence of its tap water and to resolve public distrust of tap water. The Mapyeong Water Purification Plant was equipped with nanofiltration facilities in 2011 at a cost of 22.9 billion won, and supplies 20,000 tons of clean tap water to the city daily. The water public relations center installed within the Mapyeong Water Purification Plant features a water promotion video theater, experience halls, and outdoor water equipment exhibition facilities, and the site includes water purification (softening) facilities. In addition, visitors can view exhibitions related to the history of the water and sewage business office and exhibits on water equipment. Currently, the Mapyeong Water Purification Plant Public Relations Center is open to local citizens, students, public officials working in water supply at local governments nationwide, academics, and related companies for one hour each on weekdays from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM and from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, and conducts on-site tours in small groups to prevent safety accidents. Advance reservation is required.
