Why travelers stop here
A mountain located in Joyang-dong, Sokcho-si, and designated as the 3rd of the 8 Scenic Views of Sokcho. It is 230.8m above sea level, and its name was given due to the many blue pine trees (cheongsong) in the surrounding area. In the 8 Scenic Views of Soya, Sokcho, the towering mountain is described as 'Cheongdaehwabyeong' (Blue Bamboo Screen), as it resembles a folding screen painted with a picture. It takes about 30 minutes to reach the summit of Cheongdaesan Mountain, and from the top, you can view the Sokcho city area, the sunrise over the East Sea, and Seoraksan Mountain unfolding like a screen, including Ulsanbawi Rock and Dalmabong Peak, which seem close enough to touch. Along the path to the summit, there are exercise facilities and rest areas, allowing visitors to exercise and rest while climbing. At a rest area 500m from the summit, a observatory has been installed, as it is considered a scenic spot great for taking photos, offering the best angle to view Sokcho-si and the East Sea.
