Hongcheon Saldun Village

Saldun Village is a remote village in Naemyeon, Hongcheon-gun, Gangwon-do. The name means 'a hill where people can lean on and live.' It is mentioned in the Jeonggamrok as one of the three dun and four ga, and is a representative village that still exists among the seven places where one could avoid calamities. Surrounded by Odaesan, Bangtaesan, Gyebangsan, and Seokhwasan mountains, the village preserves pristine nature with clean air and clear water flowing from the source of Naerincheon Stream. In spring, white wild pear blossoms bloom; in summer, visitors can enjoy float fishing and water play in the cool Naerincheon; in autumn, the village is dyed yellow with golden everlasting flowers, making it a pleasant place for walks. Saldun Village operates Saldun Campground and a log pension. At Saldun Branch School Campground, visitors can enjoy camping and a tractor Ferris wheel using a closed school, and the log pension was selected as one of the 100 most beautiful houses in Korea.
