Why travelers stop here
A budo (stupa) symbolizes a monk's grave and houses his remains or sarira (relics). This stupa field at Myeongjusa Temple contains a total of 12 stupas, along with 4 stone monuments. Among the 12 stupas, 7 are composed of a three-tiered base, a body stone, and a roof stone, with all parts except the square base stone and round body stone forming an octagonal shape. The remaining 5 stupas feature a bell-shaped body stone placed on a support stone, topped with a large bud-shaped finial. The 4 monuments have a low square base, a monument body, and a roof stone. Originally scattered in several places, they were gathered and preserved at their current location in 1994.
