Why travelers stop here
Cheongpyeongsa Valley is a valley located in Cheongpyeong-ri, Buk-san-myeon, Chuncheon-si, and along with Cheongpyeongsa Temple, it is known as one of Chuncheon's representative tourist destinations. There are two ways to get to Cheongpyeongsa Valley: one is to drive and park at the Cheongpyeongsa parking lot and then walk, and the other is to take a cruise from Soyanggang Dam and walk from the Cheongpyeongsa pier. From the parking lot to beyond the suspension bridge at the entrance of Cheongpyeongsa Valley, there are restaurants and cafes selling appetizing herb rice and maeil pancakes, making it a good place to rest briefly before or after climbing the valley. After passing the ticket booth, as you walk between the clear sound of the valley water and the dense forest, you can see a sculpture embodying the legend of 'The Princess and the Snake' associated with Cheongpyeongsa Temple, sitting like a picture on the bank where the valley water flows. As you walk while thinking about the story in the legend, you will encounter 'Turtle Rock,' a rock formation shaped like a turtle made of natural rock. There is a legend that if the turtle rock looks at the water, Cheongpyeongsa Temple will prosper, and coincidentally, in 1973, Soyang Lake was created by the Soyang Dam in the direction the turtle was looking.
About halfway up, Guseong Falls, named because it is said to make nine different sounds, comes into view. In addition to this name, Guseong Falls is also called Gusong Falls because there are nine pine trees around the falls. Although Guseong Falls is not very large, the clear water flowing down from Obongsan Mountain harmonizing with the surrounding forest looks as beautiful as a painting, and it is loved by many visitors. In spring, the tender light green new sprouts stand out; in summer, there is a coolness and freshness that makes you forget the season; in autumn, the valley dyed in autumn leaves and the winter atmosphere also hasten your steps. Cheongpyeongsa Valley offers satisfaction no matter which season you visit.
