Why travelers stop here
Yongsugol Valley is a valley located on the ridge of Baegunsan Mountain. The name Yongsugol is said to have originated from a place called Sohyongso on Baegunsan Mountain, where a dragon ascended to heaven, and the area was called Yongsogol, which was later changed to Yongsugol. In summer, when the trees are lush, the valley water flows as cool as ice, attracting visits from families. Yongsugol Valley is known as a good place to visit all year round, as the Yongsugol Poppy Festival is held in May and June, and the Cosmos Festival is held in autumn. The upper part of the valley has fast currents and is narrow, making it suitable for adult water play, while the lower part has calm currents, is wide, and shallow, making it suitable for children's water play. A hiking trail connects from Yongsugol Valley to the summit of Baegunsan Mountain, and along the way, you can also find a forest bathing area and Yongsopokpo Falls.
