Dongmyeong-dong Catholic Church

A Catholic church under the Diocese of Chuncheon located in Dongmyeong-dong, Sokcho-si, Gangwon-do. It is situated near the Sokcho Terminal. The predecessor of Dongmyeong-dong Church, Sokcho Church, is the only church built during the Korean War. Because corn flour, milk, and medicine were distributed at every Mass, many refugees came to the church and became believers even amid the urgent situation of the war. Dongmyeong-dong Church is also famous as a sunrise viewing spot. From the front yard of the church, the beautiful Sokcho beach and the clustered houses can be seen at a glance. The beautiful church architecture and the surrounding environment harmonize, making it a good place to visit.
