Yonghwasa Temple (Wonju)

This is the Korean head temple of China's Shaolin Temple, located on Mt. Mireuksan in Guirae-myeon, Wonju-si. The stone grandmother who grants wishes is famous; it is a divine statue that was enshrined about 180 years ago at a seaside shrine in Jindo, South Jeolla Province, and was called Chilseong Grandmother before being moved here in 1996. It is said that if you lift the stone in front of the stone grandmother, make a wish, and then lift it again, if it feels heavier than before, your wish will be granted. In addition to the stone grandmother statue, there are many stone statues, including a Buddha statue that is said to make you wealthy if you touch its belly, the Four Heavenly Kings, and the Twelve Zodiac Guardians.
