Cheongho Beach

강원특별자치도 속초시 아바이마을1길 6 (청호동)

Destination briefing

Why travelers stop here

Cheongho Beach in Sokcho is a small, simple beach nestled at the end of Abai Village. The fine sand forms a gentle slope and spreads widely, and the sea, surrounded by breakwaters, is calm and shallow, making it good for young children to play in. The beach is formed on either side of a lighthouse, making it a popular spot for taking photos, and the Sokcho Cruise International Passenger Terminal is right next to it. Abai Village, which is adjacent to Cheongho Beach, offers the pleasure of tasting a variety of foods. This place, which preserves the unique culture of displaced people from Sokcho, allows visitors to taste both the hometown dishes of the displaced and seafood from the sea. In Abai Village, there are Abai sundae (blood sausage), squid sundae, Hamheung naengmyeon (cold noodles) topped with sour halibut hoe (raw fish) for an even better flavor, and charcoal-grilled fish restaurants. Among these, Abai sundae is a representative Hamgyeong-do dish made by seasoning glutinous rice, blood, and various vegetables with garlic, ginger, etc., stuffing it into pork large intestine, and steaming it. Eating Abai sundae with halibut sikhe (fermented fish) is a fantastic combination.
