Destination briefing
Why travelers stop here
Maryang Breakwater, as its name suggests, is a breakwater protecting Maryang Port, consisting of a large breakwater (300m), a small breakwater (70m), an underwater breakwater (120m), and a lighthouse. Local fishermen catch wild halibut here. In spring, halibut gather near the tidal flats to spawn, and fishermen catch them at this time. The Maryang Port area, with its well-developed bays and capes, not only offers beautiful scenery but also houses Seocheon's finest seaweed farms, known for their top-quality taste. Additionally, a fish market is located at the port where fishermen auction off freshly caught seafood. Every year from December 31 to January 1, the Seocheon Maryang Jinhang Sunset and Sunrise event takes place here, offering another delight. Nearby attractions include the Maryang-ri Camellia Forest, Dongbaekjeong Pavilion, Chunjangdae Beach, and Hongwon Port, allowing for combined sightseeing.
