Why travelers stop here
Hwarang refers to the youth training and educational organizations of the Silla dynasty. Located in Sokcho, Gangwon-do, the Yeongnangho Hwarangdo Experience Tourism Complex is dedicated to carrying on the educational values of the Hwarang, developing and disseminating their educational content in a modern context. Here, visitors can watch performances such as martial arts on horseback (masang muye), acrobatic feats on horseback (masangjae), and a game similar to polo called gyeokgu, where players on horseback use a stick to hit a ball into the opponent's goal, all evoking the spirit of the ancient Hwarang who rode across the land to cultivate patriotism. In addition, participants can engage in various hands-on activities including horseback riding, archery, staff sparring, feeding horses, throwing darts, and Taoist exercises.
