Duwibong

Jeongseon Duwibong is a mountain spanning Sindong-eup and Sabuk-eup in Jeongseon-gun, Gangwon-do, boasting an elevation of 1,466 meters above sea level. It is a branch ridge extending from the Baekdudaegan, and because its shape is thick and rounded, locals also call it Duribong. It is the mountain that appears in "Jeongseon Arirang." The view from the summit is excellent: to the north spreads Mindungsan, to the east Baegunsan with Taebaeksan to its right, and to the south Maebongsan is visible. The clear, clean water flowing through Danggok Valley to the northwest forms Seokhangcheon, and to the northeast, Dosagok Valley has a recreation area.

Around the summit, there are royal azalea colonies, and every year from May to June, a royal azalea festival is held, attracting many hikers from across the country. Additionally, in the upper part of Dosagok at Duwibong, there is the oldest yew tree in Korea, at 1,400 years old. The yew is named for its reddish bark, and worldwide, 8 species and 40 varieties are known, distributed in East Asia, North Africa, Europe, and North America. The yew trees at Duwibong, designated as Natural Monuments, stand three trees about 30 meters apart and are the longest-living trees in Korea.
