Destination briefing
Why travelers stop here
Gisamunhang is a small fishing port located on the 38th parallel. Although the number of tourists visiting this place has decreased significantly now, in the past it was crowded because it was adjacent to the 38 rest area, which was a mandatory stop when traveling to Seoraksan Mountain via the Yeongdong Expressway. It is said that pollack fishing was prevalent after the Korean War, and squid are mainly caught from April-May to September. In addition, anchovies, mullet, halibut, and octopus are caught. Boat fishing and sea fishing from the breakwater are possible, and when fishing boats carrying seafood come in, you can purchase the catch at low prices and have it cooked for you.
