Why travelers stop here
Located at San 33-1, Sodo-dong, Taebaek-si, Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province, the Pinus koraiensis Yeonriji is estimated to be about 200 years old. The smaller tree has a circumference of approximately 1.5m, the larger tree about 2m, and the height reaches 20m. Unlike pine trees, these Korean pine trees here grew and became a naturally fused tree (yeonri-mok). In particular, this fused tree is known as an especially auspicious tree because the trunks of two different species, the Zelkova tree and the Carpinus turczaninowii, are entirely fused together. It is said that if you hold hands tightly and pray in front of this tree, marital affection deepens, love between men and women is fulfilled, and wishes come true.
