Sanyang Village

Sanyang (山陽) is a village surrounded by Seorak, making it warmer and with more fertile soil than other regions. It has been a self-sufficient village since ancient times, and it is a modest village where the old appearance, unchanged by desire for transformation, still lives on. Upon entering Sanyang Village, the first things that catch the eye are Yongamsan, a single rock mountain stretching over 100 meters, and Sanyang Seowon (Sanyang Confucian Academy). Sanyang Village has the largest farmland among the sub-villages in Samcheok, and it is rich in various agricultural products such as Samcheok King Garlic, clean rice (rice, nurungji brown glutinous rice, brown rice), and corn. Additionally, Sanyang Village is a place where nature's ecology breathes and thrives. Following the ridge of Yongamsan, one can encounter a colony of Selaginella involvens (wild plant) growing among the rocks.
