Baenaegol

Destination briefing

Why travelers stop here

Baenaegol is a valley located in the heart of the Yeongnam Alps. It is called Baenaegol because many wild pear trees grow along the clear stream, and its Chinese character name is 'Icheon-ri.' It is a gorge stretching about 20 ri (approximately 8 km) between the southern Alps of Sinbulsan~Yeongchuksan and the western Alps connecting Cheonhwangsan~Jaeaksan in Miryang, and it is a popular destination in summer. Still preserving its pristine natural beauty, it is known as a place where gorosoe (maple sap) flows in spring, and in autumn, Baenaegol apples are famous, and an apple festival is held. Crossing the mountain pass from Yangsan city, you arrive at Baenaegol surrounded by mountains, a natural tourist attraction where you can escape the city and enjoy the peace of nature. Because Baenaegol is a long valley nestled between highlands, its sunlight hours are more than two hours shorter than other areas, so cool air lingers even in summer. This climate condition is utilized for extensive apple cultivation. Address: 1511 Eosil-ro, Wondong-myeon, Yangsan-si, Gyeongsangnam-do
