Destination briefing
Why travelers stop here
Stretching across Sangbuk-myeon, Ulju-gun and Wondong-myeon, Yangsan-si, Baenaegol is surrounded by the high peaks of Gajisan, known as the Yeongnam Alps, and the first-class clear water flowing down the mountain slopes creates a scene reminiscent of a painting. It is called Baenaegol because many wild pear trees grow along the clear stream. As it is a long valley nestled between highlands, the amount of sunlight is more than two hours shorter than other areas, and the constant flow of clear valley water keeps it cool even in summer. Known for its beautiful valley scenery and the production of gorosoe (maple sap) sap, it has attracted many tourists. Baenaegol Valley is designated as a water supply protection zone, and due to many deep pools and rapid currents, swimming and cooking are strictly prohibited.
